I just watched this video yesterday. That Evinrude E-Tec is an awesome engine, it blew that Yamaha right out of the water! I think it just goes to show that environmentally friendly 2-strokes can be built with some good engineering. I, like probably everyone on this site, would love to see this technology incorporated into the off-road market. I would love to see a Honda CRF450R take on a 450 E-Tec inspired engine. I just wonder what the cost effectiveness would be for the manufacturers?

You know I've been banging on that topic for a long time now. The technology is out there. It's being developed. It's just not being adopted by ATV and motorcycle manufacturers - but it does exist. The fight is in the marketing. You can see how EvinRude approaches it. Honda would just have ot take the same business position and then all of a sudden everyone would be dumping their 4strokes for the next thing... If you have money, you can control people's perceptions. Good marketing really can be super powerful, and right now Honda wants you to buy a 4stroke...

Well, I guess it's like we always talk about. I hate to sound like a broken record, but the manufacturers make so much more money on 4-stroke parts (not my words, just repeating what's been said about 1000 times). Honda is just so strong with their 4-stroke propaganda, so I think it would take a manufacturer like KTM or maybe even Yamaha to step up to the plate and make this dream a reality.
