Hey guys!

Have any of you had experience with or currently own a Tecate 4??
I'm looking to purchase one shortly and would like to know what you think. Along with the "R", I've always wanted a Tecate but have never ridden one.

My brother has one, and it is a beastly machine! The only complaint I have with Tecates are that they are hard to get parts for. However, they are the most powerful 250s right out of the crate, but the 250R has more hop-up potential, in my opinion.

Wow, those Tecates are so rare that I would definitely jump on it, if you can get it for a good price. I've never actually seen one in person, just pictures of them. But one of the process engineers I used to work with had one, and he said it was a blast. I know there are some Tecate forums and guys that have fixed them up to be pretty competitive.

Yeah a downside would be parts availability. But I'd just go browse some forums to see where other people get their parts, and what kind of aftermarket support there is for that machine.

I'd like to own a Tecate myself one of these days, just because they're so rare and unique. Like to get an LT500 too, just to own the legendary "Quadzilla!"

I saw a pretty original tecate4 on ebay I think not long ago... There or craigslist, but I want to say ebay. He'd had the frame powedercoated, but overall it looked good! I rode the Tecate 3wheeler a couple times when I was pretty young. We had Honda's more often though...

That is a really nice Tecate-3! I wish I had more love for trikes, but my ATC is a handful as it is. That would definitely be a pristine T3 if anyone wanted to get one.

Yea ATC's are a handful. I don't think I'll own one to ride on a regular basis myself anyway. They're a lot of fun, but you have to keep a better eye on what you're running over or you'll be doing a head stand, or running your foot over. lol

I like the 86 Honda though. I think it was a cool ATC.

I know what you mean, I have to really watch the terrain with the ATC, whereas on the TRX I can just rip. The Lord knows I've had enough spills on the ATC, although none of them have been serious luckily.

I was wearing sunglasses in my helmet once and wound up tweaking my nose a little. That was the worst one on an ATC. It was a 350X - it shot me off the bars down a bank and then proceeded to roll down the hill over me. I remember tucking my arms over my face and helping the chassis continue to roll down the hill pushing on it as it made it's way trouncing over my head. lol It kinda sucked. I laid there for a minute before I moved. lol

Jason on a 4-stroke! Fellas, we may have our first scandal! Just kidding Jason, I'm glad it was not serious. My worst wreck on a trike involved an off-camber hill I was trying to negotiate with my 250R. You go up a small hill and make a sharp left turn to go around the trail. I actually made the turn OK, but I made the rookie mistake of grabbing a handful of front brake on the descent. With the odd angle the bike was at, gravity did the rest and the bike flipped over and came to rest right on top of me. My uncle helped get the bike off me and continued on my way, although I lost the nerve I once had on that thing. It actually spooked me enough that I got a little gun-shy with the TRX at the same part. I hit the brakes a little too soon, but the 4-wheels were much more forgiving, and nothing happened. I don't want to give 3-wheelers a bad name, they just require a much better pilot than me.

For me it was always jumping that spooked me the most. I couldn't keep the thing straight enough consistently to not land at an angle and get thrown off, or come close... The 350 accident (4strokes suck) was kinda like what happened to you. It was a left turn and then the bank went sharply downhill. Being off camber going into the decent just made the bike chuck me down the hill and then it next... That feeling you get before you're about to eat it sucks. lol
